STARTING A CONSTRUCTION OR REMODELING BUSINESS IN CALIFORNIA: TIPS

BACK TO TUTORIAL

Start a Construction Business

THE #1 REASON WHY NEW CONSTRUCTION AND REMODELING COMPANIES FAIL: AGE

ADDRESS THIS ISSUE BEFORE YOU START A NEW CONSTRUCTION OR REMODELING BUSINESS

"HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN BUSINESS?"  ...the question that hurts when you're just starting out.  If you know what you're doing, why look like the new guy?

We all know that people prefer to do business with an established business; whether it's construction, remodeling, roofing, flooring, plumbing or anything else.

Even when you've been in the industry for ten years, that question gets in the way when your business is new.  How can your new business compete with established competitors down the street or across town?  How can you level the playing field at the start?

Start your business with an aged shelf company.  An aged shelf company is one that's been sitting on the shelf and was filed years ago.  By starting with an aged company, you're able to project stability with an older company.  Our aged companies were filed in a state, likely outside your own.  This means the company will need to file in your state, which gives an appearance of growth and expansion.

Revenue fixes most problems.  Your business revenue opens doors for financing, leasing of equipment, financing of land, tools, and to meet payroll.  If your client doesn't sign you up for the job, nothing happens.

STARTING WITH AN AGED SHELF COMPANY TO START YOUR CONSTRUCTION TRADE BUSINESS IS THE SMARTEST DECISION YOU CAN MAKE.  IMMEDIATELY, YOU CAN COMPETE WITH ESTABLISHED COMPETITORS.

"HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN BUSINESS?"  Your answer:

"I have _____ years of experience.  I also bought an existing company that was filed in 2007 and we expanded into your area."

COMPARE THIS TO SAYING...

I started this year.  How about that $10,000 deposit to remodel your kitchen?"

Starting your construction trade business with an aged company is the best decision you can make.

The way to compete with established competitors is to project a marketed image of being established.  Post, "Incorporated in 2007," on your website, business cards, and brochures.  People seek to do business with businesses that look and feel stable.

A new construction or remodeling business can serve as a barrier to the sale.

Are aged companies expensive?  We offer twelve (12) year old companies, right off the shelf, for $2295.00.  They were filed in Montana, clean and unused.  They're filed, maintained, clean and without tax problems.

Where the list of aged shelf companies?  I don't see the list on your site.  How do I buy one?

1.  We will email you the list upon request.   PLEASE EMAIL ASSETPROFILE@GMAIL.COM FOR A LIST OF OUR COMPANIES

2.  Pick one out.  We'll hold the company for 2 business days to think about it.  We'll send you an order form.  Fill it out and send it in.  We accept all major credit cards.

What if I don't like the name of the company?

  • Change the name of the company.  We'll waive the labor fee.  It costs less than $50 to change the name.

  • Or, file a Doing-Business-As (DBA).  Other states call it a fictitious name registration.  We'll help you fill out the form.  This fee is paid to the state where you do business.  Fees will vary from state to state.

How does this play out from start to finish?

  1. Get the list.

  2. Pick out a company.

  3. Buy the ready-made company off the shelf.

  4. Choose the name of the company you'd like to do business under in your state.

  5. Check if that name if available.

  6. File your company in your state.

  7. File the DBA under the available name of your choice.

  8. File the business licenses and permits for your industry.
